Fullscreen playback of DivX/XviD AVI movies, e.g. ripped from your DVD movie.





Functions:

fullscreen playback (诺基亚 3650, N-Gage: 4096 colors, 诺基亚 3660, 6600, 7610, 7710: 65565 colors);
start at a user-defined position;
fast forward and backward.
Ripping DVD movies

If you want to play DVD movies, the first step is to rip the DVD into an AVI file using a DVD ripper program (not included).
We recommend the use of XMPEG 5.03 (step-by-step tutorial: English , German , French , Italian , Spanish ), or if you wish to make it easier, in one step, try Makayama's Mobile Media Maker.

Converting AVI files to a DVDPlayer-supported format

Download and use Lathe for 诺基亚. Select your target device first, then open the source movie file, then press Start. You may need to download additional codecs for encoding the files: DivX codec, XviD codec at www.koepi.org

Download and use FFmpeg with the following settings:
Video codec: Xvid (.aiv) (ffmpeg), max. resolution: 208 x 176 (series 60) or 320 x 160 (诺基亚 7710) or 640 x 200 (诺基亚 9300/9500), framerate: 10 - 12 fps, bitrate: 80 - 150 kbps.
Sound codec: mp3, 32kBit/s with 16000 Hz, mono.

Install mencoder, mplayer, lame, ffmpeg, and w32codecs, then use the convert.sh <snip>et (readme: readme_convert.txt).

Then upload the converted file to the phone using 诺基亚 PcSuite (comes with the phone, or download it at www.nokia.com), or copy it to the MMC using a card writer, then start DVDPlayer - it will show the new file in the list. The program needs about 2Mbyte free memory on the phone (not on the MMC).

If the sound is choppy, then please lower the bitrate (quality) or the framerate or the resolution of the target video file.

Test video (2.15Mbyte, 208x176): doom3.avi

Supported movie format:

AVI file
max. resolution: 208x176 (Series 60 phones), 320x160 (诺基亚 7710), 640x200 (诺基亚 9300/9500);
DivX orXviD encoded video
8kHz or 16kHz, MP3 encoded audio
interlaced, max. 15 frame per second.
Recommended bitrates:

video bitrate 80 - 200 kbps
audio bitrate 16- 32kbps, 16kHz, mono
using these settings, a 2-hour movie will be about 70Mbyte - 150Mbyte.
