RealVista Desktop – Evolution
Users Guide
Pasha Joymaker. 2008
http://rvdflash.googlepages.com
RVD is awesome FlashLite application that can change your phone style into Windows Vista without
changing ANY system files or damaging your phone. This Users Guide will help you to start using RVD.
Please visit the official website of RVD: http://rvdflash.googlepages.com. Here you can find free
updates, new themes and other stuff for RVD.
This Application is provided "AS IS". Downloading this Application you are agree that the Author is
not responsible for any damage that can be made while using this Application. You install and use it
at your own risk.
Launching RVD
To launch RVD you need to open FlashLite 2.1, go to memory card's folder "RVD-Evolution" and open
RVD file. Later I will tell you how to open RVD from Gallery.
There are two versions of RVD that supports 176x208 and 240x320 screen resolutions. It's strongly
recommended to use version for your display for the best look.
If you see this message: "Unable to load data" it means that files "apps.txt" and "theme.txt" can't be
found at E:\Others\RVD-Evolution. This error appears when: a) you has renamed or deleted these files;
b) you has renamed program's folder RVD-Evolution; c) you have transferred *.swf file to your phone
instead of using *.sis installation.
This is your Desktop. Here you can see battery charge level and signal indicators, full date, digital and
analog clock and mini calendar.

My apps
To launch other applications installed on your phone you must to edit "apps.txt" file.
I recommend you to install the best office application for Symbian smartphones - Office Suite (version
4 or higher) that allows you to open and edit files, such as: txt, doc, xls, xml etc.
Please don't use other text editors (X-Plore for example) because they save "apps.txt" in wrong
encoding that RVD can't understand.
You can open "apps.txt" by pressing special
button at the Settings window (Menu ->
Others). On the screenshot you can see file
"apps.txt" opened in Office Suite 4.0.
DON'T ERASE ANY SYMBOLS WHICH ARE
PLACED AFTER "&" AND BEFORE "="! If you
have damage this file you can download
new one at the official website and copy it
manually to E:\Others\RVD-Evolution.
Now I describe how to edit these settings.
Editing "apps.txt"
1) Rename "App name1" on "Qip". This name will be placed on the first button at My apps window in
RVD.
2) Rename "name.exe" on "qip.exe" – the name of executable file which launch QIP application.
3) Now save all changes: Options-> File-> Save (file format – TXT, encoding – UTF-8). Close Office
Suite and return to RVD. To apply new settings press "Restart RVD" button. After restarting open
My apps. First button is configured. At the same way you can configure other buttons.
Below you can see the list of *.exe files of some popular applications.

your application in this list I recommend you to use Device status from Nokia:
http://nds1.nokia.com/NOKIA_COM_1/Microsites/BetaLabs/applications/apps/devicestatus_1.1.95.sis

YouTube
Mobile website of popular video service YouTube. Here you can find and watch video without
downloading it to a phone. YouTube is a data intensive application. I highly recommend that you
upgrade to an unlimited data plan with your mobile service provider to avoid additional charges.
Themes
The simplest way to get new theme - download it from the official website of RVD. But you can edit it
by yourself at any time. It's easy.
You can open "theme.txt" by pressing
special button at Settings window (Menu ->
Others). On the screenshot you can see file
"theme.txt" opened in Office Suite 4.0.
DON'T ERASE ANY SYMBOLS WHICH ARE
PLACED AFTER "&" AND BEFORE "="! If you
have damage this file you can download
any theme package at the official website
and copy it manually to E:\Others\RVD-
Evolution.
Now I describe how to edit these settings.
Editing "theme.txt"
1) Enter the name of color that you want to use for Calendar, Clock and Indicators. The list of
possible colors is placed in the end of each "theme.txt" file and on the next page of this Users
Guide.
2) Enter after "userWallpaperPathVar=" the full path to your *.jpg picture that will be used as
wallpaper. Picture's resolution must be the same as you device's screen. Don't use large pictures.
The optimal size is 50-60 KB.
3) Now save all changes: Options-> File-> Save (file format – TXT, encoding – UTF-8). Close Office
Suite and return to RVD. To apply new settings press "Restart RVD" button.
This color names you can use when editing "theme.txt":
red
red2
orange
orange2
yellow
yellow2
green
green2
blue
blue2
blue3
violet
pink
white
black
If described actions are too difficult to you I recommend downloading ready-to-use themes from the
official website.
Joystick up, down – moving between buttons
Joystick ?? – choosing/apply
Right softkey– close current window
Left softkey – open menu
* – show big clock
# – off dialog
Clock screensaver and Off dialog
Press * to open Clock screensaver or press # to open the Off dialog. Here you can lock your keypad (big
thanks to the author of *.exe file which allows to do this - xONE - http://x01devel.ovh.org) and close
RVD.
Off dialog:
Joystick up, down – moving between buttons
Joystick ?? – choosing/apply
Right softkey– close current window
Left softkey – open menu
Lock window*:
Right softkey– close current window
Left softkey – open menu

it was successfully installed in my n82.. and it works but not that well.. some of the joystick won't work.. the joystick up and left w/c is for phonebook and writing new sms won't work.. and most of the icons in the menu are not working.. when being pressed, it does not follow the command.. it won't enter to that specific location.. oh well.. it's so disappointing.. the application is superb, only that not all it's functions are working.. regards!
